MRAs

AFAS also provides rules for related aspects such as mutual recognition, dispute settlements, institutional mechanism, as well as other areas of cooperation in services.
MRAs enables the qualifications of professional services suppliers to be mutually recognised by signatory member countries, hence facilitating easier flow of professional services providers in ASEAN region.

The following are updates on the MRAs are as follows:

MRA on Engineering Services
As at February 2009, another 35 applicants had been included on the ASEAN Chartered Professional engineer Register (ACPER).

MRA on Architectural Services
Malaysia is the Chair and the Secretariat to the ASEAN Architect Council (AAC).

MRA on Nursing Services
ASEAN Nursing Conference is planned to be held on 8-10 August 2009 in Thailand.

MRAs on Medical Practitioners and Dental Practitioners
Indonesia has submitted official request to defer the implementation of the MRA on Medical Practitioners and Dental Practitioners.

MRAs on Accountancy and Surveying
No progress has been reported so far on the ASEAN minus X negotiations on these areas as envisaged by the concluded Framework MRAs.
